Training

Agroforestry Training

Our agroforestry training program has made significant strides in providing practical training opportunities. We conduct two courses per year, one in Spring and one in Fall. The program runs for a week and provides a blended learning experience, incorporating both classroom and hands-on training. Our expert instructors hail from Uganda, Switzerland, and South Africa. While our past attendees have been primarily local Malawians, we’ve also welcomed participants from America, Canada, The Netherlands, and other African countries. Upon completion of the course, graduates are empowered to use their newfound knowledge and skills to improve farming practices in their communities. This contributes to rebuilding the food system and enhancing food security for numerous underprivileged families across Africa.

Compost Training

At Mitongwe, we are committed to promoting sustainable practices within our community. That's why we are delighted to offer comprehensive training in compost for the villagers surrounding our farm and the enthusiastic students in nearby schools. Through this initiative, we aim to educate and empower individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to create nutrient-rich compost from organic waste. Our training sessions cover a range of topics, including composting principles, selecting suitable materials, maintaining a healthy compost pile, and utilizing the final product to enrich soil fertility. We firmly believe that by imparting this crucial knowledge, we can encourage environmental consciousness and foster a greener future for our village and its young minds.

Vocational Training

Our comprehensive vocational training program offers skill development in a wide range of areas, including masonry, carpentry, livestock management, office administration, mechanics, and hospitality. During the training period, participants not only earn an income but also cultivate valuable skills and teamwork abilities. With the acquired skills, they can support their families, especially in our area, where jobs are scarce. We believe in providing a helping hand rather than a handout, and our program is designed to do just that.
