Food for the Elderly

As you’ll see from the pictures included with this letter, February is growing season! There has been rain, Mitongwe is bathed in green. We also applaud growth in our programs and leader training… let me tell you what is happening.

Thank you for Standing with US!

Volunteer Leaders Continue Training

The weekly volunteer training for Youth and Childrens Outreach continues with 2 training days each week. Initially there will be 12 village outreach programs bringing soccer skill training, plus music and skits to introduce evangelism and energy. This group is passionate, inspired to empower and change the lives of the next generation.

Continued Elderly Feeding

The crops are growing, but for those whose last year’s harvest has run out, there is continued feeding for this hunger season. Once again the seniors came for their stock to be replenished. Many of them were saying that they are able to do their fieldwork without a problem because they have something to put in their stomach after.

Growing Healthy Preschoolers

Our preschool teachers are blessed with produce from our Agroforestry plots to add to the childrens day. Hurray for bananas and porridge!

Family Seminar

Our Mission Centre hosted 58 Community Church leaders for a Family Seminar Workshop, this response being greater than expected. We realize people are hungry for truth.

Healthy Attendance at Young Warriors Club

This club is available for the children in our neighbouring communities on Saturdays and Sunday morning. This last week there were 132 children on Saturday and 155 on Sunday. Thank goodness we have a passionate team of helpers and volunteers who were also all present on both days.

Healthy Growth

Oh how green are our fields! There is manure being applied, weeding, transplanting, some harvesting already, silage being made, and growth! Take a look at the soy, maize, chilis, cowpeas, moringa, pumpkins…

Healthy Rain

Controlling the abundance of rain that can fall at once is part of the agroforestry equation. Flooding, runoff, erosion and field or crop damage are a reality, with steps and procedures in process to lessen this. This week the rains have come, with our roads faring the worst.
