Explore the exciting happenings at Mitongwe!

For February Dan is immersed in Mitongwe activities, engaging in meetings, mentoring, training, planning, and various other tasks. Among the enjoyable responsibilities is sampling the delicious dehydrated hibiscus flower and pineapple drink produced on the farm. Recently, he even had to use his nursing skills to help deliver a baby right next to our soccer field! Fortunately, his many skills come in handy in unexpected situations like this.

Also in February, one of our board members, Jerome, his wife, Andria, and their two youngest daughters are at Mitongwe for a 10-week volunteer stay. Jerome will be learning more about all aspects of the work to be more effective as a board member and will be looking for ways to generate more income from the farm to make it more financially independent. Andria will use her experience and training in education to help build capacity in our preschool and reading club, and perhaps even design new programs. Jerome and Andria were both here last year, learning about the work and looking for ways to use their time and skills in God's service.

Young Warriors Have a Blast!

At the start of the month, our Young Warriors crew had a blast! With 129 kids showing up on Saturday and 175 on Sunday, it was a full house. Our squad poured their hearts and souls into making it a success. Movie time and lunch stole the show, getting thumbs up from all the little warriors. Moments like these make the hustle all worthwhile!

We are pleased to share that our team has recently planted 170 papaya trees. These seedlings originated from our seeds and were nurtured in our plant nursery. This achievement highlights the dedication of our team and the significant effort put into cultivating these new life forms.

Throughout February, we continue our Senior Feeding Program, bringing joy to 240 sweet seniors. Think about it: every other Thursday, we hand out bags of corn to these wonderful people. But wait, there's more! Before the food distribution, we crank up the tunes for a lively praise and worship session, giving thanks to God for our generous donors who support this project. The seniors show deep gratitude, resulting in happy smiles that enrich our time together.

Yesterday, the Mitongwe Reading Club, led by Titan, visited the Agroforestry plots to learn about sustainable practices. They talked about the benefits of using mulch in farming like keeping the soil moist, controlling weeds, and making the soil healthier. They also discussed how using sweet potatoes as mulch can be helpful because they break down and provide nutrients. The session was interactive, and the students actively joined in. After the talk, they planted papaya trees.

Fun Kids Outreach

Our team brings joy to the children in the village. Our dedicated leaders invest their weekends in connecting with neighbouring communities and organizing engaging outreach activities for the children. They facilitate fun games, introduce soccer, weave in Bible stories, and lift spirits with lively songs. This engaging experience is a treasured moment for the children and a valuable way for us to share the message of Jesus.

Thank you to all our dedicated readers for following along with the latest updates from Mitongwe. Your support and engagement mean the world to us. We are grateful to have you on our team as we strive to make a positive impact in the community. Your contributions, both large and small, make a difference in the lives of those we serve. If you are able, please consider donating to help us continue our mission and reach even more people in need. Together, we can truly make a difference. Thank you for standing as one with us.
