From Mulching to Seedbeds
The children learned the key factors to consider when preparing a seedbed, and then put this new knowledge into practice by digging, levelling, planting, mulching and watering these new beds. Plus, they were encouraged to create their own vegetable bed at home to solidify this practice and impress their families.
Dehydration Challenge
Oh, the product we dry and the people we feed!
Our Dehydration System is continuing to work hard and well. Before the time came for a thorough cleaning, our team had to make enough Moringa Powder to last until March so that the school had enough for their porridge. Whew! Right now they use 300g per week, added to enhance the protein level for the children. Thank you Dehydration Team!
There Will Be Bees
Depending on where you live you may be witnessing the arrival of spring; new leaves appearing, bulbs shooting up, and maybe a crocus or tulips showing their lovely colour. Have you thought about whether there will be enough bees?
This is a concern at Mitongwe, with all the agriculture here. So we have jumped on the opportunity to have bee hives! We have an expert, we have volunteers and we will have bees.
and a wonderful answer to prayer…
A few months ago, we brought a young man, Rashid, to your attention. Dan was in Mitongwe and was made aware of his situation. Rashid had been laid up for a year and a half with a leg wound that wouldn't heal and was deeply infected. Dan convinced him to come to Mitongwe for some natural treatments, the healing began and now, after several months, he has been hired on the farm, giving him a new lease on life. This smiling young man is in stark contrast to the despair he felt a few months ago. Hallelujah!
Health & Wellness Work
Work continues on our future Health & Wellness Center. It's exciting to imagine how this center will impact our community - near and far. This center will provide training, teach the benefits of boosting health with our dehydrated products, and provide non-emergent health care.
Thank you to all our dedicated readers for following along with the latest updates from Mitongwe. Your support and engagement mean the world to us. We are grateful to have you on our team as we strive to make a positive impact in the community. Your contributions, both large and small, make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
