Helping the Elderly

In June, our Mitongwe Outreach Team extended a helping hand to Mr. Jent, a man facing significant challenges. Despite being a recipient of our feeding program for three years, he struggles with loneliness due to the lack of family support. The team not only fixed his roof but also presented him with an audio Bible. Gifting him the Bible filled his heart with joy, providing him with comfort and companionship as he listened to its sacred words. Mr. Jent deeply appreciated this compassionate gesture, which touched his heart profoundly.

Village Eagerness & Training

A couple of weeks back, the villagers from Kambewa visited the Mitongwe Training Centre to learn about establishing the envisioned "future field" for Malawi. This transformation includes replacing maize fields with rows of wood and fruit trees, integrating alley crops like beans and groundnuts and adding more tree rows. Planting grasses to feed the animals will also generate essential manure to grow nutrient-rich immune-boosting foods.

27 individuals from Kambewa Village, including the Chief, also paid a visit to Bonongwes field after hearing about the activities there. Our team leader, Kingsley, has been assisting Bonongwe in establishing an Agroforestry project on his land. Due to the unusually dry year, many fields have suffered significantly. The villagers were eager to observe and learn more about the techniques we have been sharing with Bonongwe.

From Across the World

We were delighted to host Mark Regier from Paraguay, an expert in cattle due to his family's management of a prominent cattle ranch in Paraguay, where he plays a significant role. Mark spent three days at Mitongwe and will provide us with valuable advice and his expert knowledge.

Supporting our Leaders

We are dedicated to supporting our leaders with nourishment, fellowship, and most importantly, spiritual guidance. We have finished the first book of the Equip to Serve Training and are halfway through the second book. The training consists of a total of six books, and upon completion, each leader will have memorized 60 Bible verses and will be prepared to lead their own Bible Study Group.

Cheerful Soccer Squad Helpers

It's wonderful to witness our soccer teams coming together to volunteer. They constructed a compost pile and a three-burner stove for an elderly woman in a nearby village near Mitongwe. It's important to note that volunteering is a new idea in Malawi and not commonly practiced. We are educating the children on the importance of assisting their neighbours, especially the elderly. The kids enjoyed the experience of helping and felt a great sense of achievement once everything was finished. This was another valuable lesson for our youth!
