Fun Happenings!

Construction is in full swing

Construction is in full swing at our Mitongwe Farm, with 3 cozy staff homes already standing tall. An impressive Apartment Building is nearly ready to welcome volunteers. The Health and Wellness Centre is on the brink of completion, along with the Dehydration Storage Building. Exciting times ahead!

Skill & Information Transfer

Our livestock supervisor is actively training others, focusing on administering medications like albendazole to maintain the animals' health and well-being. The wealth of knowledge being shared with our trainees is invaluable.

Preschool Grad 2024

Our young ones recently completed their Preschool journey. The graduation morning was filled with excitement, starting with a warm welcome and prayer. The children delighted everyone with presentations, singing songs, and reciting poems. They also demonstrated their skills by identifying colours, numbers, and letters. The headteacher of the primary school delivered a motivational speech, highlighting the value of education and inviting the children to join Grade One at Mitongwe Primary School. Each graduate received a farewell gift of 2 pencils and 4 crayons. The event concluded with a refreshing spread of hibiscus juice, papaya, and banana smoothies, all sourced from the farm.

Blue Barrel Showers

Andrew, an attendee of our Agroforestry Training Course in April, reached out to offer his volunteering services at Mitongwe Farm. We were thrilled by his offer and promptly accepted it, assigning him tasks. Currently, he is working alongside Charles, our Sports Director, to help set up gardens for all our soccer coaches on the farm. Picture this: a lush garden with a snazzy irrigation system, complete with a blue barrel for some epic plant showers. The coaches and their teams will nurture the plants using good ol' manure. As a sweet deal, in exchange for using the land, the coaches will receive 80% of the veggies produced and share 20% with us for our feeding programs. Talk about a win-win situation for all involved!
